Interesting. I'm pretty sure that 6MP is going to cover your printing to A4 handily in any case. If you're new to digital might I also suggest Luminous Landscape as a good source of work flow and technical information about digital image processing & digital photography. The webmaster is a very opinionated individual, but his trove of articles is some very good reading, I've learned a lot at that site.
