The iPod/iPhone with a player app can actually quite easily replace a Squeezebox. I think it would be in Slim/Logitech's best interest to beat the third parties there and start selling such a program.

Jörg is doing a good job with iPeng. Still has a lot of quirks, but I've been using it for a long time now.
